Terror and Taranto on the Thames
It seems fair to observe that there is something of an ideological convergence between the nihilists who ran riot in Scotland this week and those who committed mass murder in London this morning.Who else, but OpinionJournal’s James Taranto, comparing protestors with poignant and legitimate grievances exercising dissent – a cornerstone of democracy – with the gruesome bombing of civilians in London.
Yes, some protestors resorted to violence, erasing the message and actions of many who did not. Taranto’s pathetic, high pitched vitriol seems more like fanatical Muslim extremism than anything the protestors in Scotland might have said or done.
Stupidity, hatred and ignorance, whether spouting it on Al Jazeera or on the web site of The Wall Street Journal, are dangerous and deadly. It seems fair to suggest the victims in London send thank-you cards to James Taranto.
